Broccoli and cauliflower bake topped with cheese and bacon

By December 1, 2014Recipes

The béchamel sauce in this recipe is wheat free and gluten free, and it doesn’t even need to be made up on the stove – just mixed and poured onto the bake before you put it into the pre-heated oven!

Prep and cook time: 40 minutes; serves 6

  • Raw broccoli and cauliflower cut into small pieces – equal amounts
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 300ml natural unsweetened yogurt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ½ cup grated cheese
  • 1 smoke bacon rasher diced
  • ¼ tsp mustard powder
  • grated cheese for the top

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C
  2. Put the cauliflower and broccoli pieces into your baking dish.
  3. Mix together all the remaining ingredients with a whisk (except the grated cheese for the top!)
  4. Pour the mixture over your vegetables and sprinkle the rest of the grated cheese over the sauce.
  5. Bake at 180C for 30 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the vegetables are cooked through.
