Can eating apples improve a woman’s entire sexual experience?

Apparently so! Just like you, we have no idea who comes up with some of these weird ideas for medical studies. But they happen, and the results are often surprising. Take this one for example: Researchers took 731 sexually active Italian women (aged 18 to 43 and with no history or complaints of sexual disorder), and separated them into two groups. The first group were given one or two apples to eat every day, and the second group were hardly given any apples to eat. Then, and this is where it gets interesting, the women filled out a questionnaire about sexual function, sexual frequency, orgasm, lubrication and overall sexual satisfaction. What Do You Think They Learned? Researchers found that sexually active women who ate apples every day had higher FSFI scores, which means increased lubrication and overall sexual function. Yes, you heard right – an apple a day can improve a woman’s entire sexual experience! So What Is It About Apples? It turns out that apples contain polyphenols and antioxidants that can stimulate blood-flow to the vagina – just like chocolate and red wine – which helps arousal. And it gets better: apples also contain phloridzin, which is similar to the sex hormone estradiol. Who knew? It was a small study, and further research is needed, but it can’t hurt – so, have an apple.
