Hygiene 101

Let’s take a minute to think about this…can you honestly say that you always wash your hands after going to the bathroom mac 시에라 다운로드? The chances are that the answer is, NO.

You may think it’s not a big deal, but, it is! You are risking spreading diseases to your family and friends without even knowing it! Don’t believe us? Let’s clean up your skepticism.

Poor personal hygiene puts you, your family and friends in danger of getting:

  • Viruses such as: flu, the stomach bug and the common cold
  • Bacterial infections such as: skin infections, food poisoning, diarrhoea
  • Parasites such as: intestinal worm infestations, head lice

“Mom, I don’t need to wash my hands! I washed them this morning!” Does this sound familiar? Yes, those of you with kids, know this all too well.

The constant objection is no doubt irritating, but letting your kids neglect personal hygiene is far worse than just a few muddy foot and handprints around the house.

Social Impact

Let’s face it: all children have a difficult time at school at some point in their life. It’s a world fuelled by peer pressure and just wanting to be accepted – and if they’re arriving at school with a severe armpit odour, the other kids are going to make a big deal out of it!  Constant ridicule and rejection can lead to:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Poor hygiene may also affect kids’ confidence and cause demotivation. Once again, there is a simple solution to resolve these issues: Keep clean! All you need to do is make sure they’re taking a shower, brushing their teeth and washing their hands throughout the day. Remind them that forgetting to wash their hands also puts their classmates at risk for sickness, and who needs that?

So, what are the best products to use?

Soap – If you can find antibacterial soap, great! However, if you can’t find any, regular soap will help – it’s definitely better than no soap.

Hand-santisers – these little bottles may look like the cost a fortune, but just a drop is needed to sanitise your hands.

Baby wipes – Even if you don’t have children, baby wipes have a purpose beyond cleaning your baby’s mouth or bottom! Keep a packet in your  bag and use a wipe when needed.

Deodorants and antiperspirants – these are two completely different products. Deodorants are used to remove odour when you’re already sweating, while antiperspirants are used to prevent sweating in the first place. Apply some antiperspirant after you bath or shower.

Oral hygiene

Oral hygiene is just as important as keeping your body clean! You only have one set of adult teeth and you really don’t want to lose them. Keeping your  mouth clean is simple – brush, rinse and floss every day. You don’t need fancy equipment either; a simple toothbrush and tooth paste is all you need for your teeth. Use floss regularly to get rid of any hidden food particles and do a swirl of mouthwash to round it all off.
