Will my pimples ever go away?

Acne, spots, pimples and blemishes can really ruin your self-esteem. For people with really bad skin, pimples and acne are a massive deal. The truth is, when you have a severe problem, few products actually work. When they don’t, the first thought that comes to mind is: “Will my pimples ever go away?”

Not an easy question to answer

So, will acne go away? Maybe, but it’s not always likely. Some people outgrow acne, while for others it can remain or get worse. If you’re in your mid-twenties and still suffering from pimples, the best thing you can do is to visit a skin specialist – not a beautician. They are expensive, but the visit is invaluable and you’ll find out exactly what you need to do to beat the zits.

Sometimes you need more help than a face wash

A specialist will check your skin type and provide you with some treatment options. It might be a while before you find the right treatment, but you should be able to find something that keeps your spots in check. Essentially, you won’t out grow your acne, but you’ll be able to control it effectively.

What works?

There are many ways to treat severe cases of acne. BUT, what you need to do first is keep an “acne diary.” Write in the diary how many times you’ve touched your face, if you’ve popped any zits, how many times you’ve washed your face, etc. Most importantly, note exactly when you experience an out-break and where the pimples appear. After a few weeks, read through the diary to find a pattern. If you’re not sure what to look for, give it to your skin specialist. Your acne could be as a result of a hormonal imbalance or because you wash your face three times a day. Once you’ve found the trigger, you can work on fixing it.

Acne is a troublesome problem, but it can be managed, and managed well if you take care of your skin. Keeping an acne journal and visiting a skin specialist will put you on the right track. Sooner or later, the question you’ll be asking will be: “why didn’t I do this sooner?”
